What Uncanny Timing
The grueling competition to host the Olympics in 2012 came to an end with London emerging triumphant over long term rival Paris. The general response: screams of joy reverberating Trafalgar Square and groans of disappointment across the channel. One can't help but compare it to Admiral Nelson's victory 200 years ago at Trafalgar Square, which ended Napoleon's ambitions of invading England. The bidding took place at the heart of home, Singapore, and if anyone had been following the proceedings, you would probably have heard the remarks made. Imagine, grown man bickering like that. Makes one curious to see what would happen if the results had been otherwise. The result was 54-50. I wonder what were the odds for that? I am pretty sure some form of wager would have been going around.
The attack moments ago couldn't be more inappropriate - At the height of excitement when everyone's guard is down. I won't mention more, you can find the information at the links.
